So far in Eric Schlosser's novel "Fast Food Nation" it explains how all fast food resturants are appealing not only to the adults but more so to the children. They believe that the children bring in the parents and the parents bring in the money. Eric Schlosser explains how they feel that when appealing to these kids they will soon become employees there. he also gives examples on how they appeal to these young ones. He states that they built playgrounds so that children will continuously want to come and eat there. Then they put toys in every child's meal this is the main reason children always wish to come back. He then gives us a personal point of veiw when he tells us how most of the employees are always teens. he says that teens working in fast food resturants get paid about 20% below the average wage. but eric is really pointing at howew these fast food resturants a munipulating us.
how do you personally feel about how fast food appeals to the world? do you feel that they need to change some things about their appeal?
do you believe that if fast food resyurants only sold healthy products would they appeal to us like they do now?

I feel that what fast food restaurants are doing is wrong and they should stop trying to manipulate kid's minds who obviously do and listen to whatever they see and is appetizing to them...
ReplyDeleteI would say the only way that they would be appealing to us now is if they had started at the beginning because now it's too late. We are already into eating greasy and "delicious" food that's not necessarily healthy.
Personally, I feel that the way fast food appeals to us is by manipulation and lies. For example how many times have you see a advertisement that shows a burger, big and juicy, but when you get to the store they give you something less than what you expected, a little patty with a drop of sauce on it squeezed in between two pieces of smashed together buns, and send you on your way. I do believe that they should change the way that the appeal to people and tell us the truth about their food so we the customers do not feel as if we are getting ripped off, trick into buying food that not what its described to be.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that if health food restaurants only sold healthy products that they would still appeal to us like they do know but we would be careful consumers and care more about the health and quality of the foods that we eat and wouldn’t settle for anything like the junk the give us now
